18 June
so that I worked on the colony while Steve wrote
the date. About 1500 I started helping Dave
who was removing tissues from the processed
lemming. Stopped about 1700. After dinner, Steve
and I checked snap traps. I checked the live traps
on the return as I had earlier this morning (1 taken)
and found none. Upon returning I & wrote the data
for lemming processing. I started the heater and
another thermograph in the colony.
19 June Barrow, Alaska
Checked live traps early this morning and found
nothing. Weather to foggy with a cold wind; very
miserable. I worked on arranging the colony better
and then started routine work on the lemmings.
Food and water consumption data was begun. Weights
were taken and all sawdust was changed. Worked in
the colony until 1330. Helped process lemmings
from Traplines I & II and then some from an earlier
mass sample. After dinner was a movie followed
by a running 2 live trap scout 2130. Nothing caught.
Wrote notes & quit.
20 June Barrow, Alaska
Checked live traps and living snare catch, moved
them about 20 yards north east on a parallel line.
Returned and saw Dave about making up
more data sheets for myself and Schultz's project
Obtained routine data from the colony until noon
