13 June JOURNAL
The area around line IX + X and Gasline Ridge
To collect lemmings. We caught two near IX+
X but none at Gasline Ridge. We returned
by lunchtime. I set the two additivis up in the
colony after lunch while Steve was oiling and baiting
snaptraps. We baited 10 live traps and took
them to the barrel area to be set. We returned
and straightened up the "backyard" airology.
We finished oiling and baiting snaptraps. After
dinner and the movie we wrote notes. Hank
Childs came in today.
June 14 Barrow, Alaska
I fed and watered the small colony first
and removed one dead lemming taken on the 13th.
Hank & Steve started soaking some traps in linseed
oil. I repaired as many of the broken snaptraps
as possible and threw the rest away. After coffee
time, Dave, Bill Jacobsen, Hank, Steve & I went
for blood samples and to collect lemmings.
First stop was between the "little freeway"
and Family Lagoon. No lemming was seen
nor caught. The next two stops in Voth
area by the Old Cokeaster site and the area west
of Voth area north of lines IVA & B, yielded nothing.
Upon returning, one lemming was found near
the road to the village. We went back to
the Barrel area and found 4) 3 for blood
