5-6-29 Salvia fruticosa, L p 337 B.M.C.P.638 Fl. Mayflower. Mr Cox superlative gardenerage. Floral ho are concave esp in kind making a little boat in which bud lies. Whilst few fld. Calyx gray green not purple tinged, teeth sharp pointed but hardly" articulate acuminate" the two lower very little longer than the superpos. Corolla rather more than 1/4 in seems larger than as seen at home. Con- about 3/6 in neactive much elotier then in some Salvia studied so that the anthers of forme or anterior portions are visible above base of upper lip. Disk purple Calyx & Corolla glandular dotted. 5-6-29 Thymus vulgaris, L p 331 B.M.C.P.642 Fl. Mayflower. Upper lath calyx triangular not lanceolate. Upper lip of corolla short & brook's not deeply divided. lower lip of 3 spreading about equal lobes so that to eye Corolla limb- lobes 4 parted. Corolla limb 1/2 in across Disk relatively high. Anthers very dairy almost filamentous lower in tube. 5-6-29 Dendroseron monoides, Ref p 65. Fl. May flower. The 3 petale slut drab. Ovary superior. Perianth parts distinct. Petal about 1/4 in long. f about 1/2 in across. ? 5-6-29 Fatsia japonica, Deane & Planch. B.M.C.P.539 Fl. May flower called "Aralia Reboldi" by Mr Cox. 1st very firm, glabrous, the mid remind the arg- gments lighter & prominent above sinuate.
