5-14-29 Nbr no side of Middle Rd but Valley way & place where Privet grows & ancient & Indian, reddish, glabrous below & beautiful above, slightly flattened very loosely roundly sampled. 2 opp stipulate bases of petals forming a very low ridge around at. ln 6 1/2 x 3 1/4 in (Perhaps larger below as only tip was collected, acuminate, broadest almost at the truncate or subentate base, soft somewhat hairy edges reddish [20x] & glute Dark greenator, beneath lighter v with illusious purplish cast as to veins (the there are not purple [20x]) Petiole 1 3/4 in[if measured] Perhaps Michelia jalapap p 128. No signs of black dots beneath to make it Bescharnea erecta p 124 Rest under side (70x) almost minute light green fleckings [?] or something like elongated granules which can be plainly seen embedded in the tissue when the outside skin is torn away.
