Pappus pure white bristle slightly toothed. 4-23-29 Pompadour Gate: Umbel about the golden-yellow "form. x 3 4-15-29 Lobelia Erinus, L. P. 377, B.M. C.P. 446. Fl. Agri. Stat. border by greenhouse. Sapmiller. Plant lobed glabrous, but there are sparse straight white, spreading hairs on angles of st, on edges of lvs & on edges of upper cor. & lower lobe. In green above, purple beneath lower lf. vrate 1/2 x 7/8 in., very toothed the huts blunt but imbeculate open. Stunt base narrowed to 1/4 in. ringed petiole. Upperlo lanceolate 2 1/4 x 7/8 in, sinuate low toothed & almost entire. Fl on peduncles very slender 3 in. Calyx lobes complanate & spreading 1/2-5/8 in. longer than corolla tube which is 3/4 in., sometimes as long as corolla to apex lower lobe. Corolla clear blue with white center. The 3 lower lobes about same size & the middle one a trifle narrower, the 2 upper lobes very narrow & spur like, ciliate. Stamens tube hairy on top at back (where it curves forming a hood) not hairy in front but the 2 anterior anthers with upright stiff hairs at top which the other anthers don't have. Stigma a purple cone split in halves with a ring of hairs at base.
