p 358 BMGCP 532 4-10-29 Lagerstroemia indica L. "Queen of Shrubs" Label'd Par-la-Ville. Has trunk smooth brown bark at little like all spices but not mottled. [Shrubs] flower generally at this time are putting out new las & shoots the new shoots being red v 4- winged are Penicillaria grandiflora with long coriaceous leaves over them Lagerstroemia indica. The 2 posterior petals united at base with their 2 spurs enclosed in a spur of anterior petal [6] the other petals united by their claws into 3 pairs v 15 free petals ]* Follicles 3 pubescent. Stamens 11 [follicle 2 bear connective projected in white tip. Stamens have filaments expanded below * Ellis in case of 1 fl. others diff in number of parts] sepals & petals as fly downy toward base but not "bearded" 9-31-29 Lilium longiflorum, Thunb. p 71v B.M.G.C.P 55 Fl from the bouquet. Anther attached at the middle of the back versatile but after pollen sacs open the anther stands erect the filament slightly clasped bet. the turned back anther valves. Filaments broadened & flattened toward base. Pollen grains oblong adhesive in masses. 4-6-29 Ammi majus L p 377 Rd near Pot Royal Cove. Fl Note each umbel let distinct so that as one lobe at fl- head not so close to each other as to merge as in some Umbelliferae.
