Carpels slightly pubescent. Edges of backs very dentate, lengthly.

A. Below the involucre slightly pubescent with hairs somewhat appressed or spreading v sometimes twisted v flat back lobing; also involucres in the peduncle more hairy with appressed hairs becoming quite large at top. Involucres 3 sessile bro, unequal the largest 1 3/4 x 1 1/4 in somewhat starate in outline with a broad base (the 3 bases encircling the peduncle). Inv invol divided to 1/4 in of base into 3 divisions there again v again divided, almost glabrous abov. pubescent below.
Fl 3in across, lavender purple the petaloid sepals, deep coral, v pubescent on back Aleecea or hollow cone, pubescent (densely so at base) falcate curving upwards with appressed tips (in fl.)
