3-11-29 Selaginella - spores This Kray's Rock Garden. Perhaps S. riticulosa, Klotsz which B.FJ&B for '29 mentionos occasionally planted on rock-wall. Some of the fork-like branches bright reddish copper (perhaps these are young ones) but most of them green F&J all green, 3-11-29 Polypodium - spores. This Kray's Rock Garden. Sori Circular or oval 4 to 5mm diam, grown on each side of mid rib closer to mid- rib than to margin, and an incomplete row of smaller sori alternating with the larger ones nearer the margin. Sori deeply impressed so as to make very definite protuberances on upper side of lf. Lvs deeply pinatifid, segments entire, long pointed, glabrous v shining above v beneath mid-rib definite but no other ribs evident. Lf very fine. Indusium none, apophyses pedicelled. Parange green with brown not vertical ring that seems to encircle it only 3/4 of circumference i.e. from base up one side v or on top but not completely down other side & creeping over rocks. 4-11-29 Smithlands. Found collected (growing in shade) had dark brown glabrous v stipe 18 in. Blade over 1/4 long.
