slightly crenate at apex Fl 3/4 in diam. Staminial tube adherent to base of petals, guttering to untitled stem very near top. Styles 10, stigma capitate, cren- ate. Ovary densely pubescent, 10 celled, stiles 5 in each cell. Fr 1/2 in long x 1/2 in diam composed of 10 carpels which separate easily before falling apart (if ever they do fall apart) dark with spreading dark stellate pubescence. Inside dark (almost black) & shining. Pet. angled or slightly beaked at upper outer angle. Seeds attached on comparatively long styles to apex of central column (not walls, cells) 5 in each cell, dark reticulate v with slight scatter - perhaps stellate- hairs. About 2 1/2 mm long x wide P skull shaped, a living pet of attachment. Not in B.F.G.B. or T.M.Q.C.P. but very like dec. J. Abutilon, 4-11-29 same shrub largest fl. 4/2 x 2 1/2 in., petole 1/2 in. 3-28-29 Reseda alba L. P 157 T.M.Q.C.P. 315 Fl. Southlands. Leaves deeply pinnatifid into about 13 linear segments, the terminal one much the largest, with very few teeth (20x). Fls in racemes, pedicels extending bracts being 5mm long. Calyx lobes and petals 5, carpels 4, stamens about 12. Petals white, crenate, 3 lobed at apex & abruptly expanded at base, this expanded part being ciliate. Disk somewhat 1-sided and ciliate on one side only but stamens not_ on one side only of fl. Ovary 1-celled with many ovules in 4 parietal placentae.
