BMCP196 3-26-29 Sparaxis xucolor, Kew Fl. Didaceae St zig-zag bearing at each angle (each section 1-3/8 in long) & a spathe of 2 bracts, 1/2-3/4 in long, thin, papery, crinkled. The outer & slightly longer irreg toothed on margin, the inner distinctly 2 toothed at apex otherwise irreg. toothed. Bracts nerv'd & the faint background copiously marked with numerous dashes ed to Perianth Fl sessile 1/4-1 3/4 in overall, the lobes being about 7/8 in. Tube narrow at base, 2 about 3/6 in then expanding funnel form, the top of tube reaching to tops of bracts' spathes-bracts. Fl. 1 1/2 in diam. Perianth sq. red, darker red below with 2 lobed yellow spot belw- a continuation of the yellow of tube. In bud & when fl first opens the stamens surround the style i.e one style branch to each- stamen. In older fls the stamens seem to draw to one side. Filament attached to tube at fat, extreme- ly it begins to expand, 1/4 in long, flat anthers 1/4 in horiz'd, open extrovertly Style flat, 3/4 in long, 3 divided for 1/2 in Tips of anthers reach to tips of styles. Stigmas as the oblique cross section of tube somewhat flattened, ciliate in margins. Dry Cottage 3-26-29 Ixia Fl. Didaceae, Dry Cottage. St without the marked zig-zag effect (above). Fls 1/2-1 in apart. The 2 bracts below at most 3/4 in, green below, by above & pinkish from above, but the outside one truncate & not toothed, the inner
