(Off with S. serotina at?) 8-18-33) This has the familiar look of plant at H.H. (which R. has called S. altissima.) but which may be S. canadensis.)
S. atroviolac and def. puberulent from middle or below, very finely branch only in infl. too rough above and on ridges, puberulent below dentate... It is darker than S. serotina, more rugose looking above and veins indistinct beneath. Dried about 2½ mm high, glabrous. Branches (infl) ascending arched, pedicels not erect (as in S. serotina). Hence infl the 1-sided is less neatly so. Rays no longer than disk flo. So that effect is nearly daisy like
