8-2-33 base. On the upper bottle petals become milvlos are plainly visible usually not clasping. Lobes have few low but abrupt teeth on each side or are entire but always very rough on edges with very short, stiff up-pointed hairs. Dullments Loses with 1 strong mid-nerve; the net-veining showing plainly in fresh lvs held up against light. Dull cones of a several short stiff erect branches clothed with small lvs. Inv about 6 mm. high. Bracts ± 1 mm wide, thinish, with a smooth looking mid-nerve on back, acute, with the firm (almost prickly-like) tip often turned outward. Invst globous, with sometimes a slight ciliation at base of the bracts. Bracts hardly scabious or margined. Ray were all blue-lilac when collected, lvs in middle of 70x13 mm but ranging greatly in age. Fl heads per flower about 15 cm. Heads few (±6) Achene (with) has 5 very distinct ribs with a few up-pointed hairs. Pappus dirty white. Pinmanolds this specimen to R. salignus Willd Cret #295, BH #477 #215, SO #669 tho the short st & color rays seem against these. [See 8-24-33] 27-29-33 FL vfs. at Villeneuve Marble near water tower.
