point only to this but the calyx is def. shorter
than calyx lobes (query could they grow later?)
Cd with A. vulgaris (Flim 5-20-34).
A. vul- has infl of def yellowish cast. Inf spreading
out with an open lacy effect, the individual
flawd pedicels often distinct to eye. Infl above
the lowest subtending bract (each of the main-
from-the-stem branches) perfectly glabrous or
with only an occasional few hairs on edges of
bracte).
*A. pub- has infl to which pubescence on sts, calyx etc
imparts a grayish tinge (modifying the yellowish
cast.) Inf def v finely silvery hairy (conspicuously dif
from A. vul- to eye), the hairs on st pedicels of the
stem parts stiff spreading horizontally, hairs
on calyx parts or bracts not horizontal but not closely
appressed. None of the branches as spreading as in
A. vul- and infl has no open lacy effect; the in-
dividual flw pedicels not being not distinct to eye
but forming somewhat (not strongly) compact
groups.
A vulgaris? prob sep protensis since hairs on st
spread horizontally, has fine teeth.
A. pubescens has larger rounder teeth (teeth near
top of lobe 2x2mm whereas A. vul. has teeth 1x1mm.
Fl in both species + 3/2 mm diameter but at S.
