woods east of Verfaux brook. Bud scales inflamescales
scales (with distinct glandular fringe on margin). So this
thermonologist question raised 4-26-31 as to scales
being foliaceous. But note that SVH agrees with Cote that
it is C. vulgaris Mill = Prunus Cerasus L. which has
inner scales def. foliaceous (A and BM [C.P. seem to say the
opposite but this may be a wrong interpretation of the words)
Tube def. constricted at top. Sepals strongly reflexed, acute.
The 3 rather large red glands on petiole sometimes touch
the base of lf-blade (not push up onto the lower teeth, SVH) but
gften do not. Note the inner bud scales (about 6mm long)
are almost twice as large as the outer. They are very
hairy on inner surface and conspic. gland- secrete G.
They are pinkish and if more nearly petal-like texture
than the thin dry brown outer scales. They spread
away from pedicels. Perhaps this is what H.H. refer-
s to in Grad BM [C.P. and these manuals do
not mention the
