4-19-34 Viola Riviniana Relat Cate I/56, RVH II#59. SVHI 458. FL. On bank below path to Half Val-Mont (from Avery). The def. greenish whitening large spur; the pronounced often notched appurages of sepals and the pronounced beard when all found make ident sure. Has large within innocent light-blue effect. Upper petals perhaps broader in middle than in V. silvestris and spur often very much more deeply grooved. Diff in two [illegible] can not be discerned (El with a plant?)
V. sil - same at age of growth, but seen greyer
2 cf'd with V. sil - 1) both later at age of growth, as many now are having been in flower in April; the leaves of V. sil - are much larger. The diff in styles seems always present (tho hard to understand as desc by SVH) and hairiness of style not as dissimilar as SVH suggest. V. Riviniana > 1/2 V. silvestris
style x
Even to naked eye V. silvestris looks more stubby and unshapely.
One specimen (just not col exactly with the others) had large blue in spur (but not as dark as in V. silvestris) but its other char agreed with other specs.
