Capsule nms show no veins. Calyx lobes ovate-lanceolate, obtuse, narrowed at base, ciliate (few hairs otherwise), rather spreading.

Flv young fr. occasioned by Eugene - Handliland. Only few spec. coll. Blades say 5mm long & (when studied 9-16) mostly rolled back aug S. ciliatae are L but against ths are: invol 3x4 mm. SVI I695 says 3 x as long as wide). invol bracts def blade tipped (Cost II 302 say not & under achenes glabrous (Cost say all pub.)
Best guess seems S. aquatica Hude Cost II 304, Bon 163; Bon 2155 (but desc not helpful): SVI I697. St also not quite glabrous but not at all cottony. Lower lvs petiolate, consisting mostly of large terminal lobe (more or less lobed & dentate) with a few very small lateral lobes. Stl much smaller deeply pinnately lbed, sessile, clasping by its base. Infl has few short erect branches at tops. Peduncle slender, ridged (like st.) somewhat webby with loose wool, with several narrow lanceolate bracts none or few (being those of peduncle continuing to near base invol). Ray achenes glabrous with pappus often falling before fl. wthrus but ths achenes now withoutist pappuses.
