Glandulae circ. 5-29-31 not visible only in obscure dry places. Cf with L. nigra L. from near by. St. strict, gray (esp. young extr.), follicles much stouter, inclined to be erect; lv almost twice as large 8.5 x 3.5 cm, hincate acute at base but in wilds (when?) shortly but def. acuminate at apex, hairy on gmd beneath but somewhat shining yellowish green beneath.
