Cast. chagrenous. Invls about 9 x 2.5 mm. Dinvlud of 3-4 very narrow bracts 3-4 mm long, spreading distinct. Reys usually 3. Achene glabrous. 9-26-31 / Inula Conyza DC. St & H. softly joint with long, loose hairs (almost woolly. Lvs as ill viewed (Coste), Neals to 1/2 x 1/4 mm. Invvol. bracts light with green mid vein & conspicuous green squared tips (tips papillate 20x or ? glandular inside) ciliate. Interior bracts jointed purplish violet; Styles yellow turning dark later (BVH says "purple" which there are not) giving the heads a def. purple fringe. Very young gathered with a few stiff hairs near top but the deunkulate papfleur acems def glairs in one row & without crown. (See 9-31-31)
