7-19-31 ?? Circium tuberosum All. Costa # 37784 004. L-407 = C. bulbonum DC. Box 196, = Carduus tuberosus K. BVH 2160. Fl. Pradele Cafe des Narcisses. Seems to agree with nothing in manuals St 6-7 is highly pubescent. Heads solitary or short peduncled or grouped, each head attended by several br somewhat like those on St. reaching top of invol cr beyond but not at all hiding H-head. Head 3-4 cm high x 4 cm broad, yellowish white with obliguas same color & purplish. Bracts finely appressed quite glabrous except slight bar- ner on edges, not at all viscus v with no thickening toward tip as in C. arvensis (7-16-31) is bracts very like C. glareole (7-16-31) except that they come more nearly being reflexed down center and spiny tips longer & slightly re- curved. Lvs green. Both sides, glabrous above v almost so beneath. St. lvs side v somewhat cleaving, not narrowed at base nor auricled. Basal lvs with petioles slightly winged & spiny. lvs cut v spiny ciliate, not unlike C. arvensis.
