Extant ⚥ distinguished from knapbalmium by base (see ) head dioicious, ⚥ pappus capillary united at base 20 cts to fall in ring, ♂ pappus thickened & barbellate at tips, receptacle elongated. Basal hs mostly withered but each at evidently from horizontal stolon) is throwing out at base horizontal stolons with a spatulate hs. These hs 2 cm overall by 5mm wide, densely white cottony beneath, less so but not green above. ⚥ sts to 27cm; ♂ sts to 19cm, all simple, stiffly erect. ♂ hs linear, appressed-erect. ♀ heads now elongated to 10-12mm, bracts narrow, white not spreading. ♂ heads now 5-6mm high. bracts white, broader & spreading. 7-11-31 Careum Carvi L.
