Fls young fs. CAUX. Uf 3 pors in S.T. this seems only one. Fls 16mm long (which rules out M.indica) all) and lf's broader more deciduate than M.altissima Trill. also leaf not pubescent. Plant almost 3 ft. high. Defining buds? Petals really def but not great. Very young pods show two rows wrinkl ed on sides v upper edge broad. Peduncles arisate only because upper bud fell early. Stipules aw-shap- ed, entire (v very narrowly lanceolate acuminate) 7-4-31 Calamintha ascendens Jord. Gote. III 96 ? seeatureia Calamintha Schreb. Nup Nepeta Big. SUKT 570 See also Bon 249, BVH# 363, A 706. #1# Fl. Val-d'Isere Station. St. branched. Lvs to 3.5 x 3.3 cm; petioles 1 cm, but upper lvs petioles smaller. Ped- uncles usually rather longer than petiole but much older than lf. Calyx 9mm overall, teeth very unequal, the upper 3 strongly recurved, def. pubescent scabrate, hairs in throat spring from fbers sinusess are included. Corolla surprising that calyx by 10 mm (to top of upper lip). pale rose-lilac the lower lip maked darker v white. Corolla 15mm overall. *18-21-33 should not this be alp ascendens Brig.?
