9-11-37 Carex Michauxiana Boebl. G 54: C. abacta
Bailey B+B I 431 Fr (falling). Mrs. Grant-Suttles' ice pond in
woods east of R.R. near Dump Port Station (only place seen
in 1937) undoubtedly the same as 7-27 and 8-25-30.
9-11-37 Sonchus arvensis L. G 865; B+B III 316 Fr (fr not
maturing). Old garden site near Mrs. Grant-Suttles. Must be
this with bright yellow flo (color of dandelion) in heads
1/2 in across. But note (contrary to G, & B+B) peduncles and
involuce glabrous and (contrary to B+B) involucre only
5/8 in high. In as all (B+B) clasping with rounded lobes.

9-11-37 ? Carex saxatilis L. var. miliaria Bailey G 254 =
C. miliaria Michx B+B I 431 Fr. Pwd w/ C. Michauxia,
seems surely the same as #915) 8-7-37 and a few of 8-19-37
with both spikes of R. Aelurus nearly to brownish.
Perigynia far below than attempt 8-19 but not really
inflated. Of 3 culms collected, 2 had 2 or spikes.
9-14-37 Rynechospora fusca Ait. G 206: R.— Ait B+B I 344.
Fr w/ C. Michauxiana and also north of Dump Port Station,
edges of ports on east side of R.R. in region where collected
7-20-37. Gd w/ R. alba from near by v w/ Cladium
g 947-37.
