8-7-37 Continued ? Agrostis canina L.G133, BvBI205. In gravel at upstream end of island at Dump Port Cabin (See 7-24-37 when this point was visited v just possibly specimen that date was collected here.) General effect of infl very like BvBill's A. borealis and spikelets are 3mm long (excluding awn which projects 1mm. So consider A.borealis Hartm as possibility. But note at each edge of base glumaceous callus bears a small [perhaps .3-.4mm long but distinct (20x)] tuft of hairs such as R.B.K. noticed on an Agrostis X v does not find on A.alba or 8/1 or 9/10 or on A.ligensalis (in front of cabin 9/10) but which now is discovered on ?A.peregrinus (in front of cabin 9/10 same as a spec. col. 7-24.) Palea minute. Plant seems undoubtedly an Agrostis. [ x For Agrostis with similar hairs see 7-37-30 #398 v 8-8-30 #446] Aster umbellatus Mill G 814 = Doelkingeria um bellata Nees. BvBIII 443 Aster foliaceus Lindl (G), BvBIII 422. Evidently same as 8-50 6/9-29 and 7-24-30. Plants 4 in high (in gravel near water's edge) to 2oin high on bank. The narrowly ly outc brackets usually very evident. Stems reddish or green, differing in amount of pubescence.
