Plants showing a wide range in shape of infl.
Some approaching ill f j.c.; others more like ill f
j. brevicaudatus v some 65 in high v slender with
only 3 heads. R.B.K has (in 1937) been considering them
to be j. brevicaudatus but now decides all are j.
canadensis with infl what G 264 would call
not "well developed:"
Fls are "greenish or light brown" not "deep brown" *
Pedicels 3-3½ mm long not 2½ mm G
" foars" and pointed not "acute" G
" only ±1mm shorter than capsules which the in.
sips seen grown to full size.
N.B. Seeds (a.t.s.) fully 2mm overall (slightly less than
1mm without tails).
Capsules 3 sided (at least as they dry) and probably
would be desc. as "abruptly short pointed".
[These spec. ofl with a j.] 7-20-37 which turns out
to be j. brevicaudatus without doubt]
[* Whatever G. means by "deep brown" R.B.K 8-19-37 finds
pedicels in anthesis pale or green (at least sometimes]
