6-4-30 Salix
fls. Rt bank Middle Barallos Brook, meadow above mouth. Slant 7 ft high by fence bet 2 fields.
Cymes lateral on short 1/2 in or less peduncles bearing small bs (usually 3). Peduncles marked ly long white hairy. These bracts lance-llong otherwise like young bs. Radius put below infl (can see shortly point. Scales wide 1 3/4 mm long dark brown tipped to middle with long white wavy hairs. Stamens 2, filaments glabrous Anther red at first, then yellow with red tips. Filaments about 5mm long when mature. Fl bud scales about as in 6-2-30. Lvs further developed than 6-2-30 (ie ±1/2in), oblate, acute (not at all acuminate) narrowed to base, serrate with low gland tipped upward pointing teeth, long white hairy on back at first but quickly glabrous. Stipules with gland tipped teeth. Old twigs brown w distinctly pubescent (A tree which looked like this near little bridge to Cooleiswood road at least 30 ft high with single gray bark.) Cymes to 2 in long. Silky white hairs at base of the new twigs keeping young bs conspicuous. (Note male 6-8-30 A was part from thicket at Cooleiswood road bridge just up stream from bridge at corner fence.
