5-20-30 Empetrum nigrum L. & 551, BvB # 479 ? flos. [illegible] Quodi Vidi, St John's Nfld. Pr. 226 = 444 6-2-30 Salix. ? fl coll by Allan McDoane near Crabtree Station. Gments lateral (terminals upper buds usually not developed) or about 3½ in peduncles with 2-3 fly bracts. These bracts glabrous above, long white hairy on edges & beneath. Racis pubescent. Scales lanceolate. Along dark purplish-brown to below middle, very hairy with long white hairs. Pedicels at this stage 1¾ mm (more than twice as long as yellow gland.) Capsule (at this stage) 4-5 mm, thickly appressed pubescent. Style short but distinct. Stigma lobes deeply slit. Gments (at this stage) 1¼ - 1½ in long. Fl bud scales dark, 9 mm long with 2 very distinct lateral nerves (veels). Inside the very few fl buds just opening glabrous stor, sulley or edges & back protruded gland-tipped teeth.
