438 8-1-30 F. v. suave fe. Inn Stephenville Xing just inside side (south gate) in shade. Several delicate at 4 in high from same base, glabrous. Lower glabrous, opposite the lower filiform about 12 mm long (internodes longer than lvs), the upper progressively smaller until in inflo or sterile at they are less than 1 mm. All lvs united at base sheaping enlarged base [node]. St with 2-3 slight bracts, at top each with terminal flr sometimes sterile). Fl about 8 mm across, petals white, 5, entire. Sepals 5, thinner, whitish margined, rather more than 1/2 as long as petals. Stamens 10; styles 5 longer than ovary [? seem to be app sepals]. This points to Sagina. Could this be S. saginoides Britton (BvB# 57). Juniper seeds rough! peduncles papillose. Juniper fls & longer than sepals. Or could this be a shade growing from P. nodosa from which it differs in b its elongated form, c) upper lvs not fordiferous, d) styles much longer. Petals this is glabrous except for slightest hint (?) gland-pubesence just beneath ov or calyx [? cone (only)] Fls, lvs at base [?] clt together forming tuft-like appearance. Plant evidently perennial judging from root (calders but trailing) & from dried sts.
