G 337: A.—Will. BvB I 613. Fl. ripe v ripening, young lvs. St. Blo Trac. Frequent. Bark smooth, brownish gray with con- spicuous white lenticels. No remains of flo found? lvs. elliptic oval v rounded at base. Youngest growth v veins lvs have whiticle (resinous?) dots which seem to turn brown later. Charlie Legge calls it "Red Alder", 6-20-29 ? Acer Young lvs. No fls. Twigs red or reddish, smooth be- low but pubescent toward tips (looking as tho it had a bloom). Lvs. tip. suggests A. spicatum Lam. BvB II 497 in shape except for 2 more small lateral lobes at base v lobes long acuminate. Pedicle v underside lvs soft white pubescent. (like 6-20-26 Passaconaway note). lf-bulvaecola pubescent. [6-28-29 A. spicatum Lam. G 558, BvB II 497 Fl. Barachois Blk. St. bank bet. P.R. bridge & Gillams Por. Antlers pimpled. Ovary pubescent.
