9-18-27 Filipendula Ulmaria Maxim. G485, BvB II 249. Garden ? Mrs. Alan McDoae 9-18-27 Nicotiana — ? Indoor plant ? Mrs. McS. Stem los sessile, very decurrent, obovate 6 x 3 in. Upper ones lanceolate to oblanceolate 2 3/4 x 3/4 in. Flower white, 2 3/4 in broad, tube 3 in long. Anterior stamen shorter than others 4, which extend just to mouth of tube. Anthers purplish, reticulate (38x), heart- shaped but cleft below. Calyx 1 in long. Tube slightly longer than narrow acuminate lobes 9-21-27 Vaccinium Vitis Idaea L. var minus Lodd. G641 = Vitis Idaea — Button BvB#699 Fz. (no plants) sold in shop at Corner Brook as "Partridge Berry". Miss - (on boat) furnished twig from St. Anthony. "Good tone in sauce like cranberry" says also keeper. Miss - mentions as used for food at St. Anthony: Partridge Berry; Capellaire (Chirogenes hispidula); Bake Apple; Squash Berry (Viburnum paniciflorum) "excellent jelly somewhat like currant" and Black Berry (speci- men looked like Empetrum nigrum)
