culm (immature summit) vs pe is not E. mitestincta, E. quadrangularis or E. Roffinensis. Achene lenticulars, style 2 cleft, margin [upper] sheath not scarious v plant (as remembered) not tufted. See later for rootstock. Culm 18-24 in. Most of achenes withering immatured but mature ones more or less as descr. will. Also 8-26-29 Highlands Pond. Culm [illegible] [See 8-16-30 for rootstock 8-28-29 Carex Fruiting stage but underdeveloped achenes found. Has char of C. vesicaria L. G 255, BVBI 433 (not report- ed from Nfld) but spikes (at least 5 lines wide inc. beaks) too wide for C. vesicaria-monile Fernald = C. monile Tuckerm (See BVBI 433). Since base is rather spongy v/nodular when drying this might be C. rostrata Stokes G 255, BVBI 434 except that culm above (esp above lowest spike) is sharply 3-angled v distinct rough west side of McClennane Pond, also (8-26-29 Highlands Pond. 8-28-29 Myrica Gale L. G 329, BVBI 584 staminate (prob. this year but not having expanded) v/what seems to be bridg/staminate for next year. Near McClennane Pond. Also 8-26-29 staminate of this year developing. Highlands Pond.
