mm long at first erect, later spreading star-wise alt with lobes ofvary. Base & calyx lined with a def ring which bears the stamens. Stamens 10 in groups alt with lobes of calyx x lobes ofvary (groups usually 2 but sometimes there are 3 in one group & 1 in another Anthers yellow attached just above base. Stamens come to height at time as is less than half of calyx lobes! Calyx crescent in fr. (largest has 20mm) Older fr now 8 x 7mm, the lobes be- coming more pronounced, making 5 radi- cating flanges on the top (remains flat) stigma & filaments still present. Capsule completely 5-celled. Each cell with many ovules [some on long stalks] on a thickish axial placentrae. Ovules rate, slightly flattened with a stalk attached slightly above base on one edge. Ovules show signs of concentric ridges, not found in any books at hand.
