6-28-32? Viburnum Tinus L. Kn II 430, Bas 217, Bor 137, BM G CP 719, Corte II 231 Dumpefs. Rock Plan. Served Mushrooms (Lvs) one col 6-30-32). Young stot ridged & put with slightly tawny hairs. In young shoots much larger than expected to 6 x 2½ in; lower fl-sts smaller 2½ x 1½ in. Very young lvs show the dark dots w the put sometimes stellate & (5-7-31). Dufas expected v ill (Corte). Fr now I cm overall, purplish, calyx teeth prominent. The reason for (?) is that fr in cross section shows no meaty formed skeleton as expected, but inside the thin are rolled skin a green body with convolutions rather like meat wall nut, this body attached to the skin seemingly by a vertical line. If plant is V. the explanation must be that the bony exterior fruit let is now soft enough to cut easily & is adherent to the skin (no pulp between) & that this complete body is made up of cotyledons.
6-29-32? Arbutus verna P. Bz. (See 4-18-32) Rock Plan.. No fls fr. The flrd parts seem to have resulted to something like lvs, but the normal hair shaped branched pubescence makes this ident probable.
