But the def grooved peduncle, hairy receptacle,
sepals reflexed 8½ or less as long as petals
all right. Carpels about 17, the only ones
nearly ripe 3×2½ mm flat with prominent
almost
twin-edged lobe, ovalist triangular erect tip,
the sides covered with low tubercles except
in a small spot in center: hence carpel just
bodies.
6-6-32 Melica Baubini All. No I 316, Bar 507,
Bar 36¾, Catesill 620. Put From Mrs. Kennedy from Lake
Place. O'leaths glabrous (Cate) but "extraed raefera"
(Bar), 1st glume 6×3 mm broadish acute; 2nd glume
8×3-mm geminate lemma 7mm, very rough on
back but, near the edge (not exactly on the edge) clothed
from base to middle with silvery white hairs some
3 mm long. Pedicels vary pub: just under spike-
lets. Lo rolled between ov ligules conspicuous
Duley: Was the M. seen but not collected 6-5-32
in Pug River-Veya gorge the same as this?
[Ans: Prob not as M. subgutta L. Common on Teix 6-10-32
and M. minutata L. only col by Mrs. Kennedy in Pug River-Veya
gorge 16-17-1982]
