Sepals (pink with white edges) acute, dentate at base especially on lower edge 4+mm long, narrower than ovella but as wide or wider than the enlarged end of pedicel in fl. Sepals persist on unripe fs when they are narrower than pedicels. In the open fl. the lower petal hangs down noticeably away from the two inner petals. Largest fs now 4+mm high x 3.5mm wide, slightly flattened with edges subtended by sepals, def. pointed at apex, more smooth. But note that lower petal is 1+mm at base v 3+ mm at tip, each wing being more than 1mm wide (this seems contrary to Cook & Ball) clff with F. officinalis of 2-2-32
