Panicle looks like "rats" vis not def. I-sided except in uppermost part where it becomes a raceme (i.e. above the branches). Glumes 9-nerved, 2 cm long, the ears twisted awns & lemmas extend 2cm further. Hairs on lemma def. white. Lemma bidentate with fine points 4- 5mm long. Design yet particular. Corolla a rich purple, first lip & pale yellow with an orange-brown spot at base & black of the 3 folds which run from front & palate to venuss in lip. Upper lip deeply cleft.
