Bracts +/- 1 cm, not palmate above A. Receptacle
(unripe, the pedicels eaten by insects) with
same short pappus as A [note later see

Fl. RR near St. Maria. Plant 12 in high. Sys.
several from root-stock, very lfy with
many shoots in lower 6in. 3+ peduncles
with short downward pointing hairs, low
deeplly blunt-toothed (rottle like Ill #4950496
BUT), rounded at apex & narrow into long
petiole, pubescent. Peduncles to 7 in long,
stiff. Involucres herbaceous (about 8 deep)
incl peltipolate reflexed) of lanceolate,
ciliate below-entire lfy bracts, some of which are more
than 1in long. Scales of receptacle similar
but shorter (longer than fls). Corolla 5 lobed,
pale rosy lavender. Fl very young but
shows white supply collar of involucrel
and 5 rough teeth (enlarged toward base)
(Teeth a.f.s. 2mm long & not pectioeled). Pro B.
