"[illegible] (much withered) about 8 in long, pinnae in rather narrow & distant seg (perhaps decurrent) vat base each seg a bout ? in spine 3 pointed to base. Segs pinnatifid (or lobed) & very spinily. wide, deeply pinnate dentate (wide sinuses) each tooth consisting 1 spine. Outermost teeth with 5-7 of these spiny teeth next series with fewer as many (spines) ten with small dored spine at base, innermost teeth unarmed. Receptacle conical & upper part now without achenes or scales of any sort. The few achenes remaining at base of receptacle have no pappus & may be wrapped in scales. Difer br (sub- sending branches) clasping decurrent. Consid- er pars of Cirsium Arans Moende Ku II 493- Picnomen - Cass Box 174 not in Bas. No disc in Bas seems to fit. x? Philips bas low as disc above belonged to plant considered? Cynara Cardun- culus {?} 11-5-30 Russos aculeatus L Ku I Bas 443, Bon 803 BVH 476 BMJ G.P. 167. (See 10-31-30) Flo frs. Of 2 frs all only 1-seed- ed. Of 2 flo totb seemed 1-celled with 2 ovules. Note fing white ruffle bet ovary & stigma. Gd with R. hysyglossum L. ? 11-10-30. Else id so of Pollensa Puerto. One fr 2-seeded as 10-31-30. 11-5-30 Aparagua stipularis Forssk Ku I =A. horeblius L Bas 442, & Frs. Else id so of Puerto Pollensa. Fr black (n bluish) with bloom, one on each side of thorny cluodes.
