many v slender, thickly bearing short (usually 6mm) fleshy unbranched branches (b) Form uncertain but not as diffuse like as (a), fleshy branches thicker, longer (to 3cm) & often branched, very worm like in appearance. 11-3-30 Atriplex portulacoides L. Kn I 441 Bar 395 BVH 390 (ill very good) = Albione — Bmoq Bon 267. Fl v immature frs. Puerto Pollensa. 11-3-30 Schoenus nigricans L. Kn I 344, Bar 475, Bon 324, BVH 496 Fr. Marsh. Puerto Pollensa. Fst Achene (which are now ripe) is white. Scales not rough on heel (BVH). No leaves or bristles at base. Achene (Bar v Bon but see BVH "bristles minute or 0") L.f. Blades stiff & triangular. Lower scales not markedly smaller than upper ones but emphy. (See 11-22730 & 1-18-31 11-3-30 Helminthia echiodies Gaertn. Kn T 5/6 Bar 281, Bon 185, BVH 267. Fl v frs. Puerto Pollensa to southward. Inner bracts & invol have thickened middle rib which projects upward in spiny point shortly below the soft thin tips of bract (which is like edges) hairs on plant often minutely stellate at very tips.
