Papillae crown thin white, placate scales ending in fine point about 3mm over all. All achenies seem alike. Prob Asteriscus maritimus DC (see 2-14-30) or A. aquaticus Mönck. Note that the golden brown scales just below are very of fuse & 1-nerved, this near tending about a narrowing in the interior scales which are strongly compres- sed. Heads seem to have the foliacei external bracts of A. but not ending in spine as in A. spinosus. The few at low left seem (very deal) seem narrow, about 1¼ in, not circling.
