St usually twice bifurcate with leafless div in clefts at ends of ultimate branches; Achenes ± 4- sided, marked pub with upward pointing hairs. Papillae crown thin white, placate scales ending in fine point about 3mm over all. All achenies seem alike. Prob Asteriscus maritimus DC (see 2-14-30) or A. aquaticus Mönck. Note that the golden brown scales just below are very of fuse & 1-nerved, this near tending about a narrowing in the interior scales which are strongly compres- sed. Plant entirely deal, without new shoots at base. Receptacle flat. [Note later: Under- lined clue point to A. aquaticus see cate.] 568 10-31-30 Heliotropium curassivicum L. (see 10-26-30) Fr.
