lobed, overlapping segments. Lf. dark green v glabrous but sparsely hairy above. Veins beneath, prominent, light colored & pubescent. Petioles bel vastly pubescent. Only queens is proliferante. Rd westward from Vienna cemetery, 1st dr left, at entrance to gorge. Lvs in rosette (a.v.S.) Lf. obovate (largest col. 4 x 2 1/2 in) of almost uniform width, very of base but tip very slightly notched, glabrous, no petioles, edges very undulate, dark green, mid-rib very prominent beneath, v noticeably light colored toward base above. Could this be Ptelea latifolia (See 4-25-30) Cote I 161; G439 [595] RBK 3-17-31 To floor fr. Willabone. Taproot white with milky juice. Lvs (a.v.S.) in rosette. 2-25-31 Hysperia scabra L. (See 3-4/14-30) Cote II 412. Fl. Red at Fatabliments. Young parts v, to less extent, lvs invol. covered with mealesness consisting of easily removed white spheres
