No flnds. In valley east side of ridge bet Sierra Las Calatas,
wet side of field about 1/3 way down. Rootstock (? rhizome)

1/2 in thick, (juice collected 2 in long) erect but is-
regular as the new but each year at side of old
crown, marked entire length with scars of old
petioles. At 6 points on root-stock emerge at 3/4 to
1/2 it thick, smooth white "runners" (almost 1/4
inidian) the longest piece is 4 1/2 in. The upper-
most of these bears a few thicks but more
fibrous rootlets. Lvs (a.f.s.) all from crown,
thick
or petioles as long as blades and not enlarged
or clasping at base. Lvs oblong in outline,
cut about 3/4 way to mid rib in m[iddle]
