1-22-31 unequally heart shaped at base, about 2mm longest dimension, only 1-4 ripened out make numerous ovules. 1-24-31 Virginia maritime Baker. Lo.vv inff with empty pods. Col by Mrs. Vera bet. Cas Catala's & Portola along shore meadowlitter. Scape 10in high (as col), stout, hollow. Do sign of lovs. Infa, receive entire length of scape. Pedicels many [illegible] very slender, 10½ in long, now erect almost ap- pressed, no sign of bracts, each pedicel rising from a slight flange-like ridge on scape. Cap. rules 8-11mm high, 3 celled, opened loculised ally. Reman. of ovules several (at least) in axillary placentae. Lo.vv all basal (with vhs col separately) but lovs pers were not surrounding scape. Green like early lov issuing from bulb thick, isab, dark green, glabrous 2-2½ x 6in, narrow- ed at both ends, broadly acute at apex. Ovary looks to be superior. Just poss. Virginia mar- itima Baker (See 10-28 & 10-31-30). Rooted by R.B.N 1-29-31 makes resident sure. 1-26-31 Eupatorium Oseastrum L. (See 3-4-30) Crate II 25 F.I.v young fr.
