Perhaps a monocotyledon. If narrowed at base
into beaked petiole 1/2-3in which broadens
below into scale of root (scales so loosely
put together root can hardly be called a
bulb). Outside root formed of scales whose
lvs have withered v inside tightly packed
scales which will prol. develop into lvs.
Dr H. had found no dissecters. Withered lvs
have papery texture, once rather leathery.

lvs not collected. St at least 12in high bearing
occasional new shoots now formed of tight glo. v
la. //veined, grasslike, but +1/4cm broad, glabrous,
smooth, green with white borders. Main st.
has branches which toward top bear the fls.
And just would be called pinniculate (2, if each
of these branches is taken as unit, sidearms)
Fls scattered in groups of 1-2 - perhaps more.
Pedicels +6mm, articulated in middle
(sheathed or bracteate at base) rise from slight
swelling on one side?, at., erect. Capsule of
3 cells, deeply 3 lobed, x cordate at top, with remain
of feltform style from middle. Various
