smooth, puberul. Young ab. only slightly pub-
escens the 1/2 in pedicels more so. Lvs. lanceolate
to 2 in x 3/8 in (or long) sessile. all alt on these
spec. but not entirely flat.

Fl. Garden Genoa. Shrub overhanging wall on
no side of tram line shortly east of its terminus.
Very like desc. S. breggi, Key B.M.f C.P. 640 except
very ab. puberul
as to lvs. which are quite to 5 cm, rounded a huncate
dust
at base, rounded at apex, smooth, definitely crenate
except at very base dull green above slightly glaucous.
beneath, pinate nerves also plainly on both sides.
Shrub to 3 ft with slender twiggy branches. Trigs
staccely puberulent with slight tuft of hair at
nodes set bases of petioles, this tuft sometimes pro-
lorged in lying line down stem. Fls in short
terminal racemes, bracts foliaceous fls open.
Calyx 3/2 in, upper lip narrowly oblate, acute, cuture
7/8 nerved, the lower lip a trifle slater, 3 toothed (the
teeth rounded a little on outside, 8 nerved (2
nerves ending in sinus bet. teeth, 1 nerve
ending in each to ths 2 nerves on outside of
each tooth). Corolla almost 1 in long, such cherry
red. Tube swollen on under side at top, upper
lip erect (only slightly curved on back), under lip
