pequenas, flavesco 'aradas' related to 'purpureas'
or 'purpurinae' seems to point to M. filiformis.
6-12 in high, at woody at base with numerous
ascending branches. Two ray florets measured
to 1/2 x 1/4 in but mostly smaller)orate, entire,
pointed but not sharply, smoothly rounded
at base, some (not definitely the lower ones)
almost ciliate, nerves ardo-ascending,
margins slightly revolute. Fl in short
ped. clusters in axils. Clusters alittle than br.
Calyx definitely (at least) 10-nerved, hairy 4mm
long. Corolla seems about as long as calyx (in
various specs. I have never seen corolla open).
Stamens or ray floret filaments included, the
anterior ones larger. As infl progresses, the
lvs of lower fl. clusters often drop & always there
is a tuft of lvs at top while axils bear buds
that do not allow as that plant looks as tho'
flowers borne below lvs or as tho' there was a
lflfy short stator flo. (see 2-25-30 for lvs in 3's)
