St broken evidently
at ground. 12 in high, low 4 elliptic, sharply,
short-sharp pointed lowest 3/4 x 7/8 in becoming
small until uppermost bract like rolled around
at T-f 16 in latter open. Cylindrical spikes. Heavy
5/8 in twisted, curved downward, Bracts more than
1/2 as long, thin, faintly tinged lavender, greenish veins
faint, apex sometimes irregularly toothed.
Plainly Orchis because spurred posterior and/or
face of column, plants 2, peric. 1. Sepals or petals free
but forming hood. B whiteish, tinged purple (darker
on outside with greenish nerves. Sepals outer 7 x 4 mm
Petals narrower (sometimes 1 or both lacking) lips
white (enclosed, tiny bright purplish dot), strongly
convex with broad lateral lobes (not quite entire)
divided and narrow middle lobe folded on itself (longi-
tudinally) so as to make short horn-like projection.
Spurs purple, 1/2 in long, flat & widens to apex 4 mm.
Fl from Apr 5 of our to tip of lips 3/4-1 in long x 3/8 in
vertically x 1/4 in across. St hollow.
O. morio L var longissima Kurt 400 = O. longissima
Poir Baz 457 might be considered cap "estolon
inflato en un apice" But lips not like O. morio
BVH ill #997 & the lateral lobes are not "violado-
recurvo". St hollow with very narrow center.
