L roalt, very fleshy, flattened on top, rounded below. 3¼ x ¾ in. Leaves, sharp pointed, glaucous green or reddish, close together & upright. Infl. at 12-16 in. naked now but with lf sears ⅓-½ length at base. Fls cyme racemose. flrs about 2 rows on top of branch. shortly pedicelled Capsules 6, opened ventriday the dorsal rib terminating in linear appendage (for style). Cannot see if filaments are hairy at base. 2-14-30 (A) † Phragmion saxatile Cass. Composite. Seems to be Gnaphalium with extens fl, futilis & but heads are solitary on peduncles 3 in long terminating short branches axillary with a few lsa bracts. Stv peduncularly ↓ white, hoarsely so beneath & somewhat the broald. rounded, linear, wirless, scales very partly cloaping, margins strongly revolute & perhaps not quite entire. Scales in denal rows, leasins yellowish brown. Receptacle flat Pappus of few hairs. Achenes for 6. pubescent. Base ↓ achene a grey bald & coraceous cap where joint of attachment to receptacle is not in exact center. St. woody. 2-24-30 Bellver. Small stages anthers show no signs of being failed. Receptacle w/it scales. Bracts in serial
