rib above densely woolly. Invol. narrowly ovate
3/4 in high. Bracts purplish or green with purple
tips sharp but not spiny farinted, the outer
outer ones whitish or edged. Corolla tinged purple
the outer radent sterile, inner ones perfect.
Receptacle with long white scales. Rechenia, small,
smooth (at well developed stage) minutely
downy with ring of short hairs at top, just like
