4-20-30 lv. fall. See to Bas. O. procurens. Wells is the most common of this group in Majorca. 4-20-33 (Hordeum hordeaceus L.) Nut 355 - Desse-falcem mollia Parl Bas 510 - B. mollis L. Box 367, BSX 552. Early fl. Prot mid from Burle to the Palma-Doller Rd. 18m high, decumbent at base then strictly upright. If to top, the upper lf 4in reaching to above middle of panicle. Part culm alonging below panicle 1/2in ridged but not pubescent ('pubescent on an extremis' Bas). Sheaths & Holts softly noticeably pubescent. Sheaths overlapping & closed almost to top. Ligule white, rather tougher than the papery ligules of some grasses. 8-9mm, simply dentate (this is not the irreg. laceration often found) usually on both. 220.7mm wide. Infl subtended by glabrous lance-plate bract 3mm long which has no sheath but clasps culm with an abruptly extended base. ETQ infl (on both spce. colls has a not very def ridge prolonged downward from 2nd retried ending in a blunt-like protuberance somewhere along the internode. Panicle 3/2in x 3/4-in, branches pubescent, unequal, verticilates, making compact narrowly oval head at this stage. Spalelet 18mm size awns 6-10 fl., pubescent.
