top. Sheath & blades hairy, leaves longer than ? B. hor-
daceus 4-20 30. Ligule 4 mm like B. l. - but less
irate as well as ciliate. Sheaths closed part
way or almost to top. Culms at top all branched
? Infl. pubescent. Infl & in long me awns, nodding
very loose. Pedicels half-woaled (ie which grows
half way around it.) unequal, simple or bracteate
& bearing 2 florets, the longest 2 in long (not as
long as Spikelets with awns if that is what BVH means
551) Base of pedicel (& branches) where joined to
main rachis with enlarged globose part on
inside. more marked than in B. hordeaceus and
no subdendine bract at base Infl. 1st glume
narrowly acuminate, 1-nerved, white margined
15 mm. 2nd glume similar but broader, 3-nerved
2 1/2 mm. both rough on mid nerve. Lemmas roughly
all over scale 2 1/2 cm long white margined, deeply
7-lobately
